| Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dali i Domenech - this is the full name. Dali is the real reason to come to Figueras. I have to admit. The city is nice, but it's all about Dali. If you decided to come for a day off from Barcelona, or even as start of "The Dali Trip" this is the place. The city is situated about 2 hours from Barcelona, so this might be a day trip from there. |

HOW TO ARRIVE TO FIGUERES: *** Figueres located at the Emproda valley, the North Eastern section of Catalonia. It is connected to the big towns like Girona and Barcelona by train. Ticket one way from Barcelona P.Gra to Figueres costed 9.10euro (in 2006). *** If you intend to visit the small towns of Costa Brava around, with public transport, you need to use the buses. Buses site can be found here. |

BEAUTIFUL AND CHEAP HOTEL IN FIRUERES As we came from the train station there is actually one way the tourists go together - towards the city center. It's about 5 minutes walk, till you arrive to the main piazza of the city - LA RAMBLA. There, you will notice Hotel Rambla. It's a nice, clean and friendly hotel, with balconies, beautiful new baths, TV and minibars in the modern rooms. We were very surprised by it's quality. The hotels site is: Hotel Rambla. |
| THE DALI THEATRO-MUSEUM The Theatre-Museo Dali is the main and most known Salvador Dali museum. There were real theatre building ruins, when Salvador Dali and his family (parents) were living in Figueres. The building was in front of the church of Sant Perethat, where Dali was baptized. I think that there are 2 ways to explore this museum. First - you have to get lost in it. As long as you get around the rooms, and notice more and more features, you get the real sense of Surrealism. |

Second - is to get to know the explanations and the stories behind the different pieces of art. For this reason you probably need a good book or a guide to tell the whole crazy ideas that can maybe somehow explain the exhibitions. Do not forget to enter the beautiful silent garden located at the middle of the museum. It helps to get the prospective, and reminds you a bit what is real and not an illusion.
