Florence - Firenze, Italy

Everybody knows Florence... . Every visitor enjoys his own city, sees it different... .
I will not try to review the history of the city, or of its different places of interest.
I will write my "day in Florence" journey. This was not the first time in Florence, so the main goal of the trip was just to feel the city, less to explore the must stops.

TRANSPORTATION
Here is the map containing Florence. You can observe Siena, Lucca, Pisa, San Gimignano - the nearby beautiful cities.

Map with Firenze

You can arrive by car, train or a bus.
The last time I've been there I tried to save on parking and hotel. I rent a hotel in a nearby village called Scandicci. It has a pretty good communication with Florence by bus.
There is a town called Impruneta, located near by that can serve as a sleep base as well. It saved me about 50euro on hotel and lot's of money and time on parking. There are lot's of hotels and some agriculture ranches in the area with an easy access to the city center.

ONE DAY SCHEDULE FOR A "NOT NEW IN FLORENCE" TOURIST
Here is a list of what I did when I had only one day in Florence:

* Went from the "Ponte alla Carraia" to the "Piazza Duomo".

It takes about 15 minutes by feet, but try to enjoy the feeling of the street. Enter some of the Shops around. This is a big city in Italian scale. You can feel the difference, the beat of the city if you traveled in the country before arriving.
From the "Ponte alla Carraia" do not forget to look around. The city is located on the beautiful Arno river. You will notice the commercial zone of "Ponte Vecchio", that's for sure...
* Entered the Cathedral of S. Maria del Fiore and the Duomo. First to the Cathedral itself, and then went up to the roof of it.
The Duomo
The church itself is a very impressive architectural and historical complex. It's the central Cathedral of the city. If there is not to long turn, it's worth it. "Only" 463 stairs, no lift, and you will see an amazing view of the city from the Domo. Oh, what a view...
Here you can find some more information: Cathedral of S. Maria del Fiore

* Made my way to the Piazza d.Signoria.

The sculptures on the piazza, the tourists, the Uffizi at the background make this place into a special one. Enter the Cathedral, feel it, feel the streets around it.
* Go along the "Ponte Vecchio".

It's golden stores contrast with the old, inaccurate building of the bridge.
There is an interesting legend telling that the word bankruptcy came from this very bridge, meaning "break the table" in Italic (banco rotto). It meant that soldiers broke the table of the merchant that could not pay his debt on the bridge.
The Sinagog
* Walk by the Pitty Palace (Palazzo Pitty)
It looks different than all the buildings I mentioned before. Very big, massive building from the Renaissance times. It used to be the residence of the provinces ruling families.
* Behind the palace there are the beautiful Boboli Gardens

Just a walk around the beautiful old Italian garden. Feel the nature around you, designed by the best Italian architects...
PLACE TO EAT IN FLORENCE:
I love Italian food, but there was one place in Florence we ate in, which can definitely be called "Best Pizza place I've been to".
It's located in the city center, and called "Ristorante Ciro and Sons"
Address: via del Giglio 28R
